  • New from Wix: How to set your booking policy, next available date & limit last-minute bookings

Next available date Have you got the Wix Bookings app on your website? Well we have great news! You can set how far in advance, and how close to a single session, your clients can book all within your booking policy. Additionally, you can also set restrictions on how close to your services your clients can cancel or reschedule. Say for example you want to limit the booking window to seven days in advance but not less than 48 hours before the session. If a client goes on your website and tries to book 6 weeks in advance, they see instead a message explaining when they can book the session. Find out how you can set this up on your site, by following the instructions here: https://support.wix.com/en/article/wix-bookings-setting-your-booking-policy?utm_source=email_mkt&utm_campaign=em_blast_agencies_educational_august-edition_02082022_en_en&experiment_id=text_link_1_resp Limit last-minute bookings You can also now limit last-minute bookings - ideal if you have a lot to prepare for a session or you need certain details or information from attendees before an event/session. To limit last-minute bookings: Go to Booking Policy in your site's dashboard. Select how many days, hours, and minutes before a session a client is able to book under Limit late bookings.

  • How to provide clear and concise feedback to your web designer

It is very rare for a web design (or any design for that matter) to be perfect on the first attempt (we have achieved it a few times, but most of the time design is a process between the designer and the client). That is why we and many web designers offer one round of edits free per page to make sure we can get a design you the client are happy with. Communicate effectively To avoid multiple rounds of edits, it is important for the client to make sure they first of all have a very clear idea of what they want their site to look like, what they want it to accomplish and how they want it to function. Second, the client must communicate these in a way that can be understand by the designer. Constructive feedback Designers have thick skins and do not take requests for edits personally, instead they want to work with you to produce a design you are happy with. So it's better to be honest about something if you don't like it, but also explain why you don't think a design is working for you. Constructive feedback is a lot more helpful than just "it's not what I was thinking" or "I hate it". Explain to your designer, what you like and what you don't like and why that is. Include as many details and examples as possible so your designer can understand exactly what you are looking for. Sending feedback At TP digital, we do not accept site feedback or editing requests via the phone. Instead we ask for a written, marked up format of the changes requested. This is to ensure greater accuracy and also so we can share them with our team/team member working on your site changes. We prefer to receive changes either using the great Wix Get Feedback function, that is available on the Get Feedback link we send to clients when asking them to review a site, or via email. The Get Feedback tool is great as it allows clients to quickly pinpoint which part of the site or area of the screen they want changed, mark it and then provide a comment/feedback. We then receive these in our dashboard and we have tools to mark them off when they are done. Another tool similar to this is called Markup Hero - a free screenshot and annotation tool made to increase productivity and improve communication. It allows you to screenshot the page you want changes on and then annotate it ready for you to send direct to your designer. Summary: Things to remember when providing feedback It may be obvious to you what you mean in your feedback, but make sure your feedback is as clear as possible Visual feedback in form of drawings attached to emails or markup tools like those mentioned above, make editing much quicker as its easier to identify exactly where changes need to be made (drawings help us greatly and don't worry we are not expecting some masterpiece, even a quick doodle can make it clearer for us what you want changed and where). Make sure you clear your cache and refresh your browser if you are having problems viewing latest changes. If you are using a Word document for text changes, make sure you allow track changes so your designer can quickly and easily see your latest round of changes and not waste hours checking through long documents for the latest edit requests. When edits are not made as you requested, explain in further detail to your designer exactly how you wish them to be made, there may have been a misunderstanding in communication of your edits. Factor in editing time in your website build schedule - sometimes what can seem to be small edits can actually take a lot longer to implement due to various factors from making the functionality work as you envisioned, to making sure it is accessible to all. Don't forget to check the mobile version of the site and send any edits to your designer if there is something you are not happy with. If your designer is also setting up your SEO make sure you ask for details of the on-page SEO setup so you can check it against the keywords you are using for your marketing and advertising. Then feedback any changes to them before the site is published and Google crawls it.

  • How to keep safe in your zoom meetings

We've put some top tips together to help you keep your zoom meetings safe and avoid any unexpected participants from joining in. Enable a waiting room - this allows you to preview the participants coming in and choose who to allow into the meeting Keep meeting info private: this means only those invited to the meeting can join. Go further: Select Only authenticated users can join meetings or Require a password when scheduling new meetings. Adjust default security settings: Click Settings > Profile > View Advanced Features and turn off Join Before Host. Manage screen sharing: You do not want random people in your public session taking control of the screen and sharing unwanted content with the group. You can restrict this — before the meeting and during the meeting in the host control bar — so that you’re the only one who can screen share. If you disable screen sharing, the Whiteboard setting will be automatically disabled as well. Don't forget to set screen sharing to Host Only, too. Avoid using your Personal Meeting ID (PMI): Your PMI is basically one continuous meeting and you don’t want outsiders crashing your personal virtual space after your designated meeting is over.

  • Google’s Year in Search and how it could help your business prepare for 2022

So we've had the #SpotifyWrapped and this week, Google launched it’s Year in Search , allowing an interesting look at exactly what the world was searching for this year of 2021 by topics like culture, economy and environment. Google says: “Google Trends gives us a unique look at what the world is searching for, and what it seeks to better understand. At the end of every year, Trends data becomes the backbone of Year in Search and reveals some of the top questions, moments, and individuals the world searched for throughout the year. These searches reflect specific moments in time and illuminate our shared experiences, helping us to understand the societal issues and cultural events that mattered most around the globe. "In a year in which the world continued to face a devastating pandemic among other global challenges, a theme emerged from the search data: the global pursuit of healing and finding a way forward. Whether searches were personal (like “how to recover from burnout” or “how to maintain mental health”) or related to issues like climate change (“impact of climate change”, “how to conserve”), 2021 was a year of seeking out reassessment, reflection, and growth.” Some interesting facts we found in the Year in Search that we feel could be of particular interest to business owners and bloggers: Searches for affirmations reached an all-time high worldwide this year https://about.google/intl/ALL_uk/stories/year-in-search-2021/trends/affirmations/ The world searched for how to start a business more than how to get a job in 2021 https://about.google/intl/ALL_uk/stories/year-in-search-2021/trends/start-a-business/ In 2021, how to move with plants was searched more than how to move with kids and how to move with pets globally https://about.google/intl/ALL_uk/stories/year-in-search-2021/trends/move-with-plants/ The world searched impact of climate change more than ever before in 2021 https://about.google/intl/ALL_uk/stories/year-in-search-2021/trends/climate-change/ Sustainability was searched at record highs this year worldwide https://about.google/intl/ALL_uk/stories/year-in-search-2021/trends/sustainability/ How to maintain mental health was searched more this year globally than ever before https://about.google/intl/ALL_uk/stories/year-in-search-2021/trends/mental-health/ The world searched for body positivity in 2021 more than ever before https://about.google/intl/ALL_uk/stories/year-in-search-2021/trends/body-positivity/ Ok so these stats are all very interesting but just how can these trends results be used/help in your business planning for this year and next year? Not only do these stats and insights give us key insights into what people are focused on/concerned about for 2021, but also these concerns are likely to be also there in 2022 too with the ongoing pandemic and climate change discussions. By looking at what people are searching for not only could you use this to think of new products, new blog posts topics, but also perhaps look at your business practices. Is your business environmentally friendly and sustainable? Is this something your customers know about and could you increase your customer base to include more of those shoppers who are concerned about the environment and want to make more sustainable choices when they shop? Have you advertised the fact that you are a sustainable or environmentally business? Do you blog about it and post it on social media and in your newsletters? Think of ways your business could solve some of these problems or answer some of these key questions people have been searching for. Write blog posts on the topics and share them on social media or even make a YouTube video and channel and share your experiences. Does your brand for example focus on body positivity or ways people can help improve their mental health? Do you use affirmations in your marketing materials or perhaps on your products? Is this something you may want to explore doing for 2022 and capitalise on these trends. You can also use some of these keywords in your SEO if they directly relate to your business, write blog posts on them and even tailor whole ad campaigns around these key trends. By looking at the trends of the last year, we can also predict what might be popular next year especially with regards to common global concerns as well as gain insight in how people may react to key events and issues.
